# Managing team members

> Invite and manage team members in your IDMe Developer Portal organization as an Administrator.

Learn how to invite developers, administrators, and other stakeholders to your IDMe Developer Portal organization.

## Overview

Collaborating on your integration requires giving the right people access to your IDMe Developer Portal organization. As an **Administrator**, you can invite team members to help manage your application, view verification reports, and configure settings.

## Prerequisites

Before inviting a new team member, ensure the following criteria are met:

* **You must be an Administrator**: Only users with the **Administrator** role can invite new members or manage existing roles.
* **Invitee must have an IDMe Account**: The person you are inviting **must already have an active IDMe account** linked to the email address you intend to use.
  * If they do not have an account, ask them to create one at [IDMe](https://api.id.me/en/registration/new) *before* you attempt to invite them
  * The invitation process will fail if the email address is not associated with an existing IDMe user

## Inviting a new team member

Follow these steps to add a user to your organization:

#### Sign in

Log in to the [IDMe Developer Portal](https://developer.id.me) using your IDMe account credentials.

#### Select application

Ensure the correct **Site Name** and **Application** are selected in the dashboard dropdown menu if you have access to multiple.

#### Navigate to team management

Click the **Invite** button (or **Team** tab) on the main dashboard.

#### Add user

1. Scroll to the **Add a Role** or **Invite Member** section (typically at the bottom of the Roles page).
2. Enter the exact email address associated with the user's IDMe account.
3. Select the appropriate role (e.g., **Admin**) from the dropdown.

#### Confirm

Click **Add** or **Send Invite**.

#### Success

The user will be added to the list of organization members immediately.

#### Error

If you receive an error, double-check that the user has verified their IDMe account email address.

## User roles

Assigning the principle of least privilege ensures your organization remains secure while giving your team the tools they need.

| Role | Description | Typical Use Case |
| -------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------- |
| **Administrator** | Full access to all features, including adding/removing users, billing, and application settings | CTO, IT Director, Security Admin |
| **Developer** | Access to API keys, sandbox environments, and technical configuration | Software Engineer, DevOps |
| **Viewer / Analyst** | Read-only access to view verification reports and analytics dashboards | Business Analyst, Product Manager |

## Troubleshooting

### User not found error

This usually means the email address entered is not linked to an active IDMe account. Confirm with the user that they have created an account and verified their email.

### Cannot see *Invite* button

Ensure you are logged in with an account that has **Administrator** privileges for the selected organization.
