Configure FAQ and return URLs

FAQ URLs and Return URLs are configurable options that support user navigation and post-verification flow within ID.me policies. These links enhance the user experience by guiding users to help resources or redirecting them back to your application after completing an action.

FAQ URLs

ID.me allows developers to configure custom Help URLs for the authentication and verification screens. These links appear as “Learn more” options at the bottom of the screen and open in a new window when selected.

You can add:

  • A Sign in Help URL
  • A Sign up Help URL

These links can direct users to relevant FAQs or support pages.

Return URLs

Return URLs define where users are redirected after completing specific actions, such as uploading a document or finishing a Trusted Referee session. These links are included in post-verification emails and help guide users back to your application.

Return URLs can be configured at two levels:

  • Application level: A single global link used across all policies
  • Policy level: Specific links for each policy, allowing for more personalized routing

Best practices

Always configure a Return URL to ensure a seamless user experience. This enables users to return to your application after completing verification and consenting to the release of their data.

Critical

Without a configured Return URL, users may be informed that they have completed verification but they may not have consented to the release of their data. As a result, your application will not receive user attributes or status updates via the ID.me API.
