User properties
User properties are data attributes that a user consents to share during the verification process. These can include basic identity details like name, address, and phone number, as well as community-specific information such as military service dates or student graduation status.
Policies determine which properties are requested and returned to your application after verification, ensuring you receive only the information you are authorized to access.
Default properties
The following properties are enabled by default for all policies:
- Unique identifier (UUID)
- First name
- Last name
- Postal code
Configurable properties
The following attributes can be configured for use in all identity policies:
DISPLAY_DROPDOWN_FOR_GROUP_SELECTION
DISPLAY_USER_PROPERTIES_BASED_ON_SELECTION

Data minimization
Work with your ID.me account team to ensure that your application only receives the user data it truly needs. Attributes are considered relevant when there is a clear business case for collecting and using them in downstream processes.
Minimizing the amount of unnecessary data reduces security risk and ensures compliance with data handling best practices.
